She stepped out of her dress, one hand braced on his shoulder; her heels settled on the floorboards with muted taps, the length of her legs long and golden-tanned, bare and smooth and close.

She kicked aside the dress and stood looking down at him, backlt from the lamps filtering in through the window. Her long hair unfurled gracefully over one shoulder, sprawling over the curve of her breast, caught in the lace edge of her bra. When she drew the dress from her shoulders, she'd let it fall slowly, baring each piece of skin--each freckle and small bruise or scar--like a promise, like temptation. The shape of her hip was warm and near in the darkness.

"Ed," she said, her voice soft and low, like a butterfly's touch at his mouth. He took her hand and stood, marking the lines of her body as he did, the graceful line of her waist and corded muscle in her arm. She could and had taken him apart with those arms. The important thing is, she always put him back together.

Winry leaned forward and kissed him, her hair cool and silk on his palms, and he found the snap at the back of her bra, undid it with careful fingers.
