It had been a careless word on Benitora's part, one that Akira would have ignored on most occasions. On most occasions though, he wasn't soaking wet, old wounds aching, temper sore from the weight of old memories. So he'd thrown a punch, as actually stabbing Benitora was out of the question (or rather, it was too much trouble).

Tora's reflexes had gotten faster though (or maybe Akira had gotten slower) and he hadn't had time before a fist had met his face, shoving him back against the wall. There had been more fists hitting flesh and then hands gripping into hair, digging, and Akira found that in that area, Benitora had the advantage. Benitora had noticed his companion's fruitless grasp as well and they'd sat there in silence, the thunder of their heartbeats battering Akira's brain. His back was pressed against the wall and Benitora's knee was pressed just hard enough between his legs to be utterly agitating without causing any actual damage, quite to Akira's mortification. Akira bit the inside of his mouth as he sensed recognition dawning on Benitora's face, the creak of muscle and bone, along with the pulse of blood in his cheeks signifying just what emotions his sparring partner was experiencing.

Someone needed to move, preferably Benitora, Akira vaguely thought, before Benitora decided to acquiesce, only in the wrong direction, pressing their mouths together. Akira found his body going still. He found himself praying for Benitora to stop, if only so he could regain his bearings long enough to-to beat him? Kiss him back? Akira wasn't sure. This was so far out of his realm of experience and it was just-

"H-hey. What's wrong?" Benitora gasped as he finally broke away, causing Akira to regret his early thought. His normally glib mouth didn't have a quick comment and he found that his legs were like lead as he staggered to his feet. He felt a pressure on his wrist, Benitora's grip holding fast. "Akira!" he hissed through his teeth.

There was the sensation of Benitora's pulse racing through his fingers as they rested against Akira's wrist. He swallowed, shaking his head before he yanked his hand away. "If you think for one minute that I'm interested in some spur of the impulse fling…" Akira trailed off, conscious of just how childish the phrasing sounded. Benitora remained silent before he started to move.

As Benitora rose to his feet, Akira could sense the tension in the other's body, though he couldn't sense if it was anger, embarrassment or something else entirely. "Whatever man, whatever," Benitora cracked his neck, forcing a smile on his face. "I'm gonna go take a walk and cool my head for a bit," Benitora laughed as he sauntered towards the door, shoulders slung low. "Sorry for messing with ya."

His mouth wanted to move, but Akira merely gritted his teeth instead, waiting until the door slammed shut. "Fool," Akira grimaced as he leaned against the wall, his body aching from unused tension. He now wished that he had stabbed the imbecile.
