Prompt-Fullmetal Alchemist, Ed/Ling: temptation - so strange and new and beautiful
Authors note- Embarrassingly late. sorry!
Sitting and waiting had never been Ed’s strong point. They had only a minute or two yet before leaving for the rendezvous, but being stuck with Ling made the time stretch out into the realm of unbearable. Ling lounged, all long lines and pleasing angles, effortlessly relaxed and seeming not at all troubled by the imminent conflict.
Somewhere in the infuriating twist of Ling’s smile Ed’s anger got tangled up and emerged more as an interesting mix of interest and self deprecation. Ling’s posture shouted nonchalance, the casual cant of his head was heavy with the sleepy attentiveness of a cat. There was a lack of momentum that Ed found infuriating, a casual assurance that everything would go his way that was far too familiar to be comfortable.
The shock when those smiling eyes cracked open and intent slammed through every nerve, scattering herds of goose bumps in its wake. That one, subtle change, and Ling’s entire demeanor shifted, along with Ed’s opinion. Those eyes sharp with intent and interest changed everything. Ling’s lean body uncurled, a snake catching the scent of prey, and Ed couldn’t help but watch the movement of each muscle as Ling tensed in subtle ways.
Ling smiled, lips curving up in a rather predatory expression, catching Ed’s eyes. “Shouldn’t we be going?”
Ling was appallingly intriguing, the taunt in his heavily accented voice made Ed’s stomach twist and churn in ways that had nothing to do with hunger. Shame fought with sensuality as Ed tried to desperately ignore the seed of attraction that had been planted the first time Ling had grinned like a maniac in the middle of a fight. Ed tried on a few different expressions before settling on disgruntled. “You’re the one who has been lazing around. Let’s go.”
Ling’s laugh was quiet for once. “I was appreciating the view.”
“Shut up, you crazy idiot. We are going to be late.”
“There are some cases in which tardiness is excusable.”
Self control was a concept Ed was only peripherally aware of. Infuriation expressed itself in an invasive action so out of the norm it didn’t even occur to him to stop and think it over. Ling’s lips were rough, and Ed could feel the smile there as he pressed his own close, bit once in frustration, and backed off. “We can’t be late. Let’s get moving.”
Ling smiled, his face softening back towards comfortably inane, though his eyes stayed sharp and interested. “After you.”
