And Little White Lies (Monochrome Factor, Shirogane/Akira)

Title: And Little White Lies
Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] nekokoban
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: Monochrome Factor, Shirogane/Akira: trust - you silver tongued, unreliable narrator
Word count: 425
Summary: Degrees of lying.

+++++

In his ears the sound of his heartbeat is loud enough to give him a headache. A sour taste lingers in the back of his throat and each time he breathes in it makes his stomach turn. His shoulder burns as if on fire, but his fingers are numb.

There are hands on his face, soft and cool and smelling of winter nights. A voice says his name sharply, but when he opens his eyes all he sees is a faint silver glow. He tries to speak. The most he manages is a groan that catches and stutters in his throat and comes out sounding like the pained voice of a wounded beast. Distantly he thinks that he'll be embarrassed to remember this later. Another noise escapes him and sounds more like a laugh.

For a moment he is alone again. Then the world moves and he is rising--up, up, though his body feels so heavy. He opens his eyes again and has a split second of clarity, looking up at a tight-lipped profile framed by silver hair. Blue eyes burn in that pale face, hot enough to reduce the world to ashes. "Sh--"

Before he can finish the name darkness swallows him whole (again, as before, as so many times before).

Later he wakes in his own bed, tight neat bandages wrapped around his shoulder and his middle and more still taped to his face. He touches his forehead and finds that is also wrapped. Shirogane sits by his bed peeling an apple and tsks at him. Akira-kun, that was close, wasn't it? You have to be more careful. Don't take on anything too big, if it kills you, that's the end. He appears completely unconcerned, concentrating more on getting the apple skin off in a single long strip. Through the sunlight coming in through the window he looks mild-mannered and unassuming.

What the hell happened? he asks finally.

Shirogane clucks his tongue. You ran into some trouble on the way home. I suppose you must have frightened them all off; there was nothing but you when I arrived. You were careless again, Akira-kun.

Akira sinks back against his pillows again. He watches Shirogane start to cut the apple into quarters. That's it?

That's it. Shirogane smiles. It's bright as the sun and clear as glass. There is nothing in his face that reveals anything; that in itself feels like a tell. Say 'aah,' Akira-kun.

Akira sighs and opens his mouth and dutifully accepts the bite of apple.

Aaah! That is a wonderful prompt and I now have to go and follow Monochrome Factor again.

XD MF is hardly the most obscure series ever though. I remember a time when I was waiting for 07 Ghost to become more mainstream due to the anime.

I read MF when the anime also came out so there was a short time when I guess an enough amount of people knew it. Haha I didn't like the anime much either for 07 Ghost. Now that I think about it, I think Mononoke is probably even more obscure.

Mhmm, I admit one of my more petty reasons for not liking the anime that much was because for once the Japanese voice actors seemed off the mark for half the cast.

(Was lurking on your tagslist and was overjoyed to see you write for Shounen Onmyouji and Imaginary Beasts!)

Ohh I haven't checked what the most recent IB theme is. I've just finished reading the stuff on S2b2 though :D.

Totally! (And I guess that above there is the most indirect question for - friends? I have cookies!)

Ah yeah, reading sex is so much more different than writing about it.

I LOVE REPEATS! And no need! I am waaay more available on IM-ing services - which are all on my profile and I'll probably be dead depending on whether or not it's Term Paper Week. :)
