Prompt: July 5-13. Final Fantasy VII, Rude/Tifa: Laundry date - "Rude never expected to get to know Tifa when she was folding Cloud's boxers."
Laundry
He still wasn't sure if it was worth the teasing that he knew Reno was planning, but Rude had finally given up and asked Elena's advice on what ladies liked. He couldn't just ask anyone. For one, he was a Turk, and signs of weakness weren't allowed. And second, Tifa was no ordinary girl. She could probably take him down, and the only woman he knew like that was Elena. So when she suggested simply going and spending time with the woman, he had taken her advice.
Which was how he had ended up here, following Tifa to the basement of the bar, where there were kegs of alcohol and a few odds and ends, including a washer and dryer. In his arms was a basket full of clothing. Most of it looked to be children's clothing, and Tifa was carrying another basket herself, which he was sure he could see more adult things.
"I do appreciate the help with things," Tifa started, opening the washer and starting to load it with clothing. "Just put the other basket down here." Setting the basket down where he was told, Rude shrugged, not sure where to go from here. He wasn't Reno, he did the silent intimidation thing while Reno baffled them with bullshit. So he flailed a bit mentally as Tifa emptied out the basket she held, started the washer, then pulled more clothing from the dryer.
Putting the new clothes on the table, she started to sort and fold. It was a very motherly thing to do, and he just stood there, watching her for a moment. Rude never expected to get to know Tifa when she was folding Cloud's boxers, so this was just a very strange situation.
"You could just ask me out, you know," the woman said suddenly, setting the neatly folded clothing into the basket. It must have all be Cloud's, Rude decided absently, staring at Tifa. He hadn't expected that.
Though, really, he should have. Look at Elena and Tseng. The blonde had basically told the Turk leader that he was going to take her out. But, given how Tseng was more like Rude than Reno when it came to things like dating, it would take something like that to get things going.
Coughing for a moment, he reached up and pulled off his glasses. Carefully tucking them away into his jacket, he looked at Tifa, eyes meeting hers. "Would you care to go out sometime, Ms Lockhart?"
She almost rolled her eyes. He knew she almost rolled her eyes. But she didn't. Not fully. "Yes, Rude, I'd love to go out."
That was easy enough. So easy he should have done it years ago.
Reno was never going to let him live this down.
