Surrender
“I will never surrender to you.” Cloud’s jaw clenched even as the sword slid across the rocky ground and just out of his reach.
“You have always been mine.” Sephiroth was quick and had grabbed the front of his shirt and lifted him off the ground before he could even regain his feet.
The blow he expected, the blow to end his life, never came. Instead, he hung there, watching his former general’s beautiful face, wondering what fate worse than death, the madman had in store for him.
Sparks and flickers of magic ignited around the hand holding him; a burst of energy charged through him. After the first blaze of agony, he twitched, limp, unable to move in Sephiroth’s grasp.
“I might let you live.” Sephiroth’s silver hair spilled around his shoulders as he leaned forward until his face almost touched Cloud’s. “If you surrender to me. If you become mine.”
Though his words were slurred, his voice weak, Cloud still managed to murmur, “I...will...never...surrender...to you.”
The smile that flickered at Sephiroth’s lips was almost friendly. “Oh, but you will, and you will surrender willingly or I will destroy your friends, your world and, in the end, that would hurt you more than if I had destroyed you...wouldn’t it...Cloud?”
Cold fear stirred deep in the pit of Cloud’s stomach, fear that twisted and grew until he felt as nauseous as he felt powerless. And, though he struggled not to give into the knowledge that he couldn’t escape Sephiroth in his current condition, he took hope in the fact that Sephiroth wanted something from him. Something that he wanted badly enough to make a deal for.
“If you hurt them...”
“You’ll do what?” Anger flashed in Sephiroth’s eyes, rumbled in his voice.
Cloud struggled against the magic that held him in place while Sephiroth watched him, a mild expression cloaking his anger. When he was exhausted, but no closer to escaping, he demanded through clenched teeth, “Okay, Sephiroth, what do you want?”
“Why, Cloud...” The face drew close again, the smile almost a leer. “Haven’t you figured that out yet?” One gloved hand stroked across Cloud’s thigh and between his legs. “I want...you.”
