***

Schuldig is a telepath. He can slip into your mind, insidious yet unnoticed, and find your every weakness, steal your most closely-guarded secrets. Or he can force his way in, cruel, relentless, and leave you unconscious on the floor, blood seeping from your ears.

Schuldig’s done this, and will continue to do so. He is an assassin, remorseless, amoral, looking out for himself. Oh, and Schwarz as well, though only out of self-interest. There’s no deeper bonds involved, no friendship, no camaraderie. Nope. None.

He doesn’t keep a mental ‘tag’ on Farfarello, monitoring the Irishman and his family from a distance. He doesn’t sneak into Kritiker’s offices twice a year, making sure that Takatori’s not pulling a fast one on Nagi. And he certainly doesn’t watch Brad Crawford while he’s sleeping, an arm thrown heavily across Schuldig’s chest.

Schuldig is a telepath, but sometimes he’s totally clueless.

***

How’s life treating you, Farfarello?

Nothing’s changed since the last time you annoyed me, Schuldig.

Pity, that. How’s the witch?

Sally is fine. No signs of Estet. Doesn’t Crawford keep you busy?

Heh. Brad’s getting old, I totally wore him out tonight.

Spare me the details. I have enough nightmares as it is.

Nothing that torching a church or two can’t fix, right?

No. It’s not that simple anymore.

How so?

I’ve changed. God’s changed. It’s a different sort of battlefield now. But I’m still going to destroy Him.

It’s nice to have goals. You should come visit, for old time’s sake.

Maybe. In the meantime, tell Crawford I said to take you on a Honeymoon, or something.

What!?!

You sound like a bored housewife, Schuldig. Go find a hobby, have an affair or create another international incident, I don’t care. Just leave me be for a while. I already have one wife nagging me these days, and you’re been married to Crawford for years.

...

It takes Schuldig over an hour this time to bypass or disable all Kritiker’s security measures at their Tokyo headquarters.

“Hello, Schuldig.”

Well, almost all of them, but he was expecting this one to appear.

“Hi, Nagi! Your security still sucks, but it is getting better!”

Nagi simply rolled his eyes at Schuldig. “Don’t you have anything better to do?”

“You don’t like my visits? I’m hurt!”

“Hardly. That ego of yours could stop bullets, lightning and Godzilla.”

“You are so nasty, Nagi. It’s hard to believe you kiss Takatori with that mouth.”

“I do a lot more than that with my mouth.”

“See? I did raise you right!”

“Yes, Mom. And how is Dad these days?”

“... You’re the second person in as many days that’s implied Crawford and I are married. Have you and Farfarello gone even more insane?”

“Get real: you and Crawford have been married for years. You work together, you sleep together and you fight like an old married couple.”

“Hey!”

“I’m just surprised you two haven’t made it legal, to set a good example for me.”

“Hey!”

“My parents are living in sin. Don’t you understand how that makes me feel?”

“Very funny, Nagi. I think I’m a precog now, because I predict a migraine in your immediate future.”

“Ouch! Stop that! You’d better go now, Mamoru’s coming.”

“Wow, a quick shooter. How disappointing. Ow!”

“It was nice to see you, Mom. I’ll call you later; I’d like to bring my boyfriend over for dinner next week, have him meet the family.”

“Like hell!”

***

Brad Crawford is a precognitive. He experiences visions of the future - sometimes the immediate future, sometimes of events in the months and years to come - and often changes them to his advantage. It’s a subtle, but effective, art. Knowledge is power, and Crawford has more knowledge than anyone else.

But it’s one thing to know many things, and another to apply that knowledge. Sometimes Crawford has all the puzzle pieces, but can’t make the pieces fit together. He blames this on the other members of Schwarz: they are too impetuous, too powerful, too unstable to completely predict their actions.

So he doesn’t use his contacts in international crime syndicates to keep track of Farfarello from a distance, or his spies in Tokyo’s most powerful Yakuza gangs to do the same for Nagi. And he certainly doesn’t watch Schuldig while he’s sleeping, or run his hands through unruly orange hair.

Brad Crawford is a precognitive, but sometimes he’s totally clueless.

The next morning, Crawford is rudely awoken by Schuldig jumping onto their bed. Schuldig straddles Crawford’s lower torso, leans forward and places his hands on Crawford’s shoulders.

Crawford moves an arm up to shield his eyes from the bright sunlight coming in through the windows, which is a very bad move, as it leaves his body unprotected.

Schuldig’s hands move from Crawford’s shoulders to his neck, and squeezes. Hard.

“You son of a bitch!”

“What?” Crawford manages to wheeze.

“You bastard!” Schuldig shouts as he lets go of Crawford’s throat, only to put both hands in Crawford’s hair, and pull. “All these years, and what do I get? Nothing!”

Crawford takes a breath, and grabs onto Schuldig’s hands. “Stop that! What is wrong with you?”

Schuldig glares at him. “I want an acknowledged partnership. Lucky for you I don’t want a kid, Nagi and Farfarello are hard enough to handle. I want my fucking Honeymoon!”

Crawford stares at Schuldig for another moment before comprehension dawns. He feels like he’d just been hit by a ton of bricks.

“You ungrateful jackass, where the hell is my ring?”

I love this, Nagi as Schuldig and Crawford's kid, *snicker* :)
