Devil May Cry (Sparda/Eva)
Oct. 7th, 2007 04:20 amTitle: Expectations
Author: belladonna12
Rating: pg-13
Word count: 243
Summary: They don’t know the others expectations, so they try to learn…
A/N: I seem to be in drabble mode this kink around. Most of the stuff is short and sweet, or short and humorous. Strange for me, who’s short stuff is usually 1,000 words. Nothing bad here, just kinda fluffy. Definitely not my best work.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the idea for Devil May Cry, Capcom does, so I’m making no money here.
Prompt: Devil May Cry, Sparda/Eva: xenophilia - ‘not as simple as insert tab A into slot B’
Expectations
It’s not simple between them. It never will be. She’s a human, a virgin at that. He’s a reformed demon from hell. She’s fragile, he’s not. She’s a mammal, his true form is more insect than anything else. No, it’s not simple.
Not as simple as insert tab A into slot B, anyway. So they both try to figure out how it works for the other.
Sparda buys romance novels, ignoring the strange looks the clerk gives him. Finding a quiet corner of a café, he settles down to read them. From them, he gains little but the idea that human females expect sex to be nothing less then spectacular every time. And that reading romances in public gets you called a fag.
It’ll be a century or two before he’s allowed to go back there. If the café lasts out the decade.
Eva takes a more practical rout, grabbing a book on demonic reproduction. She makes it as far as normal demon/human couplings before she closes the book in disgust. It’s too bigoted. There’s nothing about willing partners, just rape and violence.
They eventually find the books the other is reading. The confrontation is silent, tinged with small, humored smiles. Eva explains how romance novels are fantasy. Sparda tells her he will never behave like the demons in the casebooks towards her. They both laugh.
Not as simple as insert tab A into slot B. Yet they’ll figure it out someday. Together.
