Yeah, I have pretty much the same problem - for a long time I wasn't sure I'd be able to write anything during the handcuffed period, because while it's a huge invitation, it's really a completely different sort of pairing when Light doesn't know that he's Kira.
This was really interesting to write, being somewhere in between - Light still acting somewhat like Kira, even if he doesn't know why.
