Title: Resolve
Author:
misura
Rating: PG for kissing
Warnings: None.
Summary: The awkwardness of being young, in love and kissing someone without hugging them.
A/N: A drabble. (A day late.)
It's awkward, kissing someone without hugging them; his body keeps wanting to get closer, to put his arms around her and pull her closer to him, close enough to allow him the illusion that she's never going to leave him - to merely press his own lips to hers seems hopelessly inadequate, besides of which he feels like a fool, a child imitating what grown-ups have told it to be an expression of that feeling inadquately called 'love'; their noses are going to bump into one another any second now, or else one of them is going to lose his (or her) balance, or maybe (worst of worst possible disasters) Shigure will walk in on them, assuming he hasn't been watching them all this time already and is only waiting for the most humiliating moment to make his presence known.
When they move apart, it's by mutual consent - Tohru smiles and he looks away, not finding any suspicious nearby bushes or convenient hiding places.
"I - " he starts, wanting to promise her the world if only she'll give him another chance, another ten thousand chances to prove himself to her.
"Let's make this the best springbreak ever, Kyo-kun!" she says.
"Y-yes," he hears himself say, in a daze, as she rises to get back to where there'll be people watching, people listening, people looking and only seeing the Cat.
