Title: Strawberry
Author:
misura
Rating: PG for gardening
Warnings: None.
Summary: Sunshine and summer and love.
A/N: A shortie.
There's a smudge of dirt on her face and a tattered-looking sunhat on her head; as always, when working in the garden, she's wearing clothes that are a little old and torn, clothes she can get dirty without needing to worry about getting squeaky clean again.
She's the most beautiful girl he's ever seen.
"Look, Yuki-kun! A strawberry!"
Yesterday, Ayame dropped by for a visit, to give Tohru a big box and Yuki a look that was probably intended to be meaningful but (as usual) failed to make sense, although Yuki thinks he can make a fair guess as to the general nature of Ayame's gift. He's mildly curious as to what kind of costume Ayame thought his little brother would like to see Tohru in, and quite convinced Ayame will turn out to be wrong (also as usual). Still, he feels a little pleased Ayame has made the effort.
He'd feel much more pleased if Ayame would have simply wished him and Tohru well. In writing. On a simple, un-perfumed postcard not accompanied by any packages, flowers or musicians. Possibly, that's wishing for the impossible, only these past few months, Yuki's begun to feel that a great many less things are impossible than he used to think before, when he hadn't yet met Tohru Honda.
No costume could look better on her than the simple clothes she's wearing now.
(The strawberry tastes sweet, like sunshine and summer and love.)
