A/N: Meh, it’s not the greatest work, but I like it. A kind of little peek into Naoki’s head, or at least one version of Naoki’s head.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the idea for Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Atlus does, and I’m making no money here, so please don’t sue me.
Prompt: Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Naoki: longing for inhumanity - he's scared he's only going to hear screaming from this point on
Reasonless
The tower of the Kagutsuchi stood a monument to twisted souls, God, and the possible rebirth of the world. Naoki hated it with every fiber of his being, but he headed for it, thinking of Aradia’s words. Almost, he wished that he had gone to Lucifer instead, blotted out the last of the frightened teen he didn’t dare show to anyone but Dante and Futomimi. He’d kept his word, collected all the candelabrum and returned them to their places, and added a nice collection of Naoki fist dents to Metatron’s wings, but he’d turned back, headed upwards and gone on to the Tower instead.
He’d seen how twisted Chiaki, Isamu, and Hikawa had become. Their Gods had warped them, taken away their humanity and placed horrendous monsters in their place. Chiaki was no longer the slightly arrogant girl with the pretty smile, Isamu was no longer the too hip slacker. His friends were gone, and Naoki missed them. But even as he clung tight to what was left of his humanity, he simultaneously wanted to throw it aside. Because he's scared he's only going to hear screaming from this point on, and Naoki suspected that he was far too human to come out of this entirely sane.
It might have been better to let the last shreds of Naoki die and let the Hitoshura alone continue, but he didn’t have the courage to do it.
