Author: Orenda (

Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Word count: ~350
Summary: Connections with others can be strange things.
Prompt: June 2 – Final Fantasy VII, Vincent/Cloud: insanity - "Cloud would tilt his head and mutter to himself, sometimes, his eyes so far away."
A/N: My apologies for not making this more citrusy. I tried.
The Lifestream tended to do strange things to people.
Not that this was any particular revelation, or some kind of new discovery. No, it was more a statement of obviousness rather than anything else. But it was true, nonetheless; there was more than one case that could prove it.
One of the most prime examples being Cloud Strife. Even though he’d mostly recovered from the state they hand found him in in Mideel, there were still moments when he just seemed… different than before. Perhaps he just wanted to live in dreams and in the past rather than focus on the present. Who could blame him? It wasn’t just anyone that could say that they had come face to face with Sephiroth and lived to tell the tale, let alone saved most of Gaia.
It was in one of these moments where Cloud had stopped paying attention to the normal five senses that someone came up from behind where the man was sitting, shook his head, and wrapped a cloth around his shoulders.
“You’ll get sick out here if you’re not careful.”
Blue eyes came into focus to realize that what was wrapped around him was a dark cape, rather than a blanket. He neither pressed closer to Vincent, nor did he pull away, but remained where he was. A single rebellious snowflake drifted down in front of them, and Cloud watched it with half interest.
The former Turk’s voice was low, intended for Cloud’s ears only. “You shouldn’t try and rush death either. They’ll still be waiting for you later.”
There was no need to explain who he was talking about, nor did Cloud have the need for a response.
“Although… perhaps I’m just as crazy as you are, for not really wanting to wait to see her again.”
Chapped but warm lips quickly brushed his, and the feelings from the kiss lingered as they sat in silence, wind blowing around them. Finally, Cloud looked at him, really looked, eyes burning unnaturally. “…Perhaps that’s what I’m looking for. Someone to be crazy with.”
