"Yukari-san, are you jealous of me?"
Yukari jerked her head upwards and saw Aegis standing near her school desk. "W-What do you mean?" Yukari managed to force out.
"When I said I wanted to stay close to Minato-san, you reacted negatively," Aegis replied. "Junpei-san said you might be jealous."
Yukari's face grew scarlet. "I'm not jealous!" she exclaimed. "I just think you shouldn't say such things so blatantly. It's kind of embarrassing."
"Minato-san does not seem to think so." Aegis leaned close to Yukari's face. "You are blushing. Did I say something to upset you?"
"I'm fine!" Yukari said sharply. She turned her face away and a drawn-out sigh slipped from her lips. "Look, I'm not jealous, okay?"
Aegis laid her hand on Yukari's shoulder. "Yukari-san, it is true that I feel I must watch over Minato-san. However, I can protect you as well. Do you want me to?"
Yukari looked up at Aegis. "That's, um, kind of unexpected," she said, trying to avoid direct eye contact with Aegis. "I mean, you are only one person."
"If we spend some time together, will that convince you of my sincerity?"
Yukari sighed again and then stood up. "You don't give up, do you? All right then, it's a date."
Aegis smiled, and together she and Yukari left the classroom. Yukari knew that she was jealous of Aegis and that it was silly to be jealous of an android, but she supposed it would be nice to be watched over by someone as sincere as Aegis. A smile came over Yukari's lips as she reached over and gently gripped Aegis' hand.
