Summary: Kairi thinks Riku and Sora haven't changed so much from when they were children.
Prompt:June 8-- Kingdom Hearts, Sora/Riku/Kairi, Immature - Her boys could be childish at times, but Kairi wouldn't change them for all the worlds.
A/N: This was a fun one to write. :)

"See, I told you he was real.” Sora smiled triumphantly after the door to Santa’s Workshop had closed behind them.

“Says the person who believed me when I said he wasn’t.” Riku said with a slight smirk.

“I was 8 years old!”

“Excuses, excuses. You didn’t have to believe me.”

Kairi sighed and let them move ahead of her as they continued their (friendly) argument. They made an interesting pair—Sora waving his arms and looking indignant as he tried to prove his point and Riku looking smug as he stood with his arms crossed. It was a familiar scene; as she watched she let the image blur in her mind’s eye to one of the two from years ago, having another argument on the same subject.

“But, but…What about the presents every year? The tags all say they’re from Santa!” 8-year-old Sora gave 9-year-old Riku his best “So there” look.

Riku shook his head. “Parents just write that on the card so you’ll think it was from Santa.” He had the look on his face that both Sora and Kairi had come to know as his “I’m older and know better than you” expression.

“Well Santa gets busy! Maybe he asked for their help!”

“Maybe you’re acting like a little kid.”

Kairi brought her mind back to the present, shaking her head laughing to herself. The argument then had ended much like the one now: with both of them wrestling on the ground, laughing. Only, instead of sand it was snow they were now trying to cover each other with. Eventually they began making balls out of the snow and started throwing them at each other. Resigning herself to a long wait, Kairi sat on the stairs leading to the workshop, smiling as she watched them play like the children they were—still are, really. And that was okay. Even if they were childish sometimes, they were her boys and she wouldn’t have changed them for the worlds.

Of course, Kairi thought as she blocked a stray snowball, that didn't mean she had to let them have all the fun. Gathering some snow she hurried to join in, Sora whooping in happiness and declaring that he and Kairi were a team “‘cause Riku’s too damn tall.” Riku only put up with that idea for so long before (carefully) picking Kairi up, draping her over one shoulder. She laughed and hit his back lightly with her fists, telling him to put her down because this really was not dignified. Sora laughed too, then took up pretending to be the knight that had to rescue Kairi as they headed toward the Gummi Ship. It had grown darker and colder as they played, and was time to go home.
