Title: And To You, An Ending
Author/Artist: inarticulate
Rating: safe for work
Warnings: …it's really short
Word count: 234
Summary: "Shadow of Destiny, Homunculus/Eike: power play, subtle innuendo, teasing - mind games with a purpose."
----
"Damn it, you used me!" Eike actually sounds hurt by that, and Homunculus' lips peel back from his teeth.
"That's just the way things worked out, isn't it?" He steps closer to Eike; Eike doesn't step back anymore, as if Homunculus' power has somehow been neutralized, as if he's no longer afraid. It makes Homunculus long to reach out, to snap the timeline, so that it would only be a matter of time...
He doesn't; he watches Eike's blood beat under his skin in an endless rhythm. "We all use each other, don't we, Eike? Even you humans should know that."
"But not..." Eike shakes his head. "All those lives I changed... for you?"
"I'm flattered, really." Homunculus tilts his head, still smiling. There's no reason why not to, when he's already won. "You think very highly of me, Eike, I'm sure I don't deserve it."
"That's not what I meant." Eike puts his hand to his face.
Homunculus can feel time sing through him. He lowers his voice to murmur: "It's all in how you look at it, isn't it? Am I the lady or the tiger, Eike?"
When Eike lowers his hand, he's wearing an expression Homunculus hasn't seen before, but Homunculus doesn't care; he's already leaving, dissolving the useless physical body to appear back in the comfort of his own realm. He's already won.
