Title: "Beloved Enemy"

Rating: G
Warnings: None
Word Count: 357
Prompt: Transformers (Armada), Megatron/Optimus: beloved enemy - "sometimes, he questions his own motivations"
A/N: I'm sorry it's late. I've been sick
Sometimes, he questions his own motivations. He stands on the battlefield, facing down the leader of the Autobots, wondering why he does it, why he has to act like he hates the one he truly loves. When he fights, he has no choice but to bring harm to the other, but he makes sure it won't kill Optimus. He makes sure the other will live to fight him again.
Optimus often questions his own motivations, too; he wonders why he continues to torment himself by fighting Megatron, only to remember that, if he doesn't, so many innocent mechs and femmes will be enslaved or killed. He wonders if there will ever be an end to the war, an end where he can finally be with his enemy without having to worry about what anyone else thinks.
But, at times like this, times when they meet alone by pure chance, they don't fight. They sit together, able to be happy together.
Optimus smiles as he rests his head on the Decepticon leader's shoulder, looking out over the cities, at the beautiful lights. He is happy to be able to sit there without worrying about the war, to just be able to spend time with Megatron.
Megatron sighs and wraps an arm around Optimus, smiling slightly. He misses the times that when he is able to forget about the war and is glad to have this chance. He looks down at Optimus, surprised to see that the Autobot leader's mask is no longer up, surprised to see the content smile on Optimus' face. He tilts the other's head up and kisses Optimus gently, lovingly.
Optimus returns the kiss, leaning against Megatron. When the other pulls away, he's disappointed. "I'm glad we have some time together," he says softly.
Megatron just nods, pulling Optimus closer. He knows that he shouldn't be doing this; meeting with Optimus like this will only serve to make him question himself more often. At the moment, though, he doesn't care. He wants to stay there with Optimus and forget about the war, forget that they're enemies, even if it is only for a little while.
