Title: Better Times Ahead
Author/Artist:
sagemuraken
Rating: M
Warnings: Sexual scene
Prompt: Phoenix Wright, Phoenix/Edgeworth, trapped in an elevator-- "This time won't be so bad."
Word count: 590
The elevator jerked to a stop with the abruptness of a lightning strike. Both men contained within were thrown unceremoniously to the floor and instantly Miles Edgeworth whimpered and curled up into a ball, shifting himself into a corner with his back against the wall. The lights above them hummed and flickered, going dim.
When he had recovered his own shock, Phoenix Wright saw his companion in such a state and moved across towards him. He realised that this must be sending terrible flashbacks to Edgeworth of that traumatic scene from his childhood. His first thought was to do what he could to comfort him.
"It's all right," Phoenix said in a soothing voice, trying to slip an arm around Edgeworth's shoulders. Edgeworth tensed and shuddered, uttering a small sound of fear. Phoenix pulled back but made quietening sounds. He lightly brushed aside hairs that had gone astray on Edgeworth's forehead.
Gradually Edgeworth calmed enough to turn his gaze tentatively to Phoenix. His eyes were shimmering with unshed tears and his lip was trembling. Phoenix's fingers stroked his hair carefully.
"It won't be so bad this time," Phoenix whispered to him. "You're safe here with me."
With a stifled sob, Edgeworth hugged Phoenix abruptly. He clung so hard that Phoenix struggled to find a position of comfort along with breathing space. He felt Edgeworth's body shivering and rubbed his back gently, kissing his hair and then his lips when Edgeworth upturned his face again. Edgeworth seemed to melt into that, desperately kissing him back and holding on even tighter. The need in him was strong and obvious and Phoenix couldn't resist. He wanted to banish any of Edgeworth's bad memories. If he could turn this around into a good memory instead, he thought, it would be an accomplishment worth doing.
Slowly, clothing was pushed aside, just enough to gain access to each other. Phoenix's movement's were almost delicate in their care as he caressed his lover. Edgeworth's sobs became soft moans and his shivers turned into shudders of pleasure. He greedily took each of Phoenix's kisses and drank in each tender touch until he forgot his fears and there was only the two of them, locked together in a blissful world of their own.
With a sigh at last they were done and Edgeworth's head rested quietly against Phoenix's chest. It was then that the lighting brightened again and with a shifting motion the elevator once again sprung to life, gliding upward to its formerly interrupted destination.
They both had reluctantly pulled apart and straightened their clothing by the time the elevator grinded to a smoother halt again, the doors parting to let them out.
Edgeworth glanced at Phoenix, his eyes darting to him with a grateful look. It didn't need to be said, how much this had meant to him and Phoenix understood, giving back a small smile and a nod. The next time an elevator stopped would not be the same for Edgeworth - or indeed for them both. It would be framed by sweeter memories, ones that would eventually overtake the negative ones.
Edgeworth was thankful and in his heart he knew that wasn't all. There would be even greater memories to come, not only in elevators but in other places - and it was something else to be thankful for. That he'd found such a companion and that Wright could make everything so... right. Could he have a more appropriate name? The thought warmed Edgeworth and it was with a lighter stride that he walked away.
