Title: Best Laid Plans
Author:
misura
Rating: PG-13 for implications
Warnings: none, really
Prompt: Dragon Knights, Ruwalk/Alfeegi: on a desk – spontaneous
Summary: Some surprises were better than others.
A/N: A bit-longer-than-a-drabble drabble.
Ruwalk spent most of the day in fearful anticipation of Alfeegi's reaction – last night, it had seemed a good idea to surprise Alfeegi behind his desk with a late-night snack and an offer for a massage ('because you'll be able to work that much better and faster without your muscles being all in knots') which had, as he'd planned, quickly turned into something a little less practical (but a lot more enjoyable for Ruwalk). What he hadn't planned on was the crack he'd heard at some point during the proceedings; at the time, Alfeegi'd ignored it, only now, in the cold light of day and with a new budget to put together, Ruwalk felt reasonably certain that Alfeegi'd investigate the condition of his desk, and find it not quite up to his standards.
The smart thing to do would be to seek Alfeegi out and reason with him – perhaps even offer to pay for the damages done, although Ruwalk didn't think the incident had been entirely his fault. Besides, Alfeegi'd told him several times how expensive those desks had been, and it had been a very close call to decide whether or not Kai-stern would actually get one.
It was only when, finally, after a day of playing hide and swiftly walk in the opposite direction, he returned to his own office, that he realized he hadn't escaped Alfeegi's wrath after all.
