Loyalty (Count Cain, Riff/Cain, PG-13)
Dec. 6th, 2009 11:46 pmTitle: Loyalty
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Implied sex
Prompt: Count Cain, Riff/Cain: neediness - "O, never leave me."
A/N: Sorry this is so late!
Loyalty
On rare nights there are wide desperate eyes and clutching hands in the dark, hot velvet on the shell of Riff’s ear:
Stay by my side forever.
This is what Cain was taught, that everything shall slip away from him, that death follows in his shadow and grasps where it falls, and on these nights it is not enough for him to simply smile into fate’s leering face, but he must remind himself that Riff is really there and not slipping through his fingers and bind them together with words and flesh and blood (three powerful magics on their own, if he is to believe in such things, and together they must be strong enough to stave off curses and destiny. They must.) It is all that Riff can do to try and calm those frantic movements. To tell his Lord silently that he took Riff’s heart a long time ago and Riff would still give him undying loyalty, even if he received no payment in return for it.
It’s alright, I could never leave you. The thought of us being apart hurts me as much as it hurts you.
I promised, didn’t I? I will follow you into the very bowels of hell, and not even the devil will be able to tear us apart.
