Prompt: July 2-53. Saiyuki, Jien/Gojyo: incest, giving into temptation - "I love you. Its wrong, but I can't help it. I've tried to protect you, and now I'm hurting you."


Family

"I love you. It's wrong, but I can't help it. I've tried to protect you, and now I'm hurting you."

Those were the first words Gojyo heard as his brother pulled him tight, and they didn't make any sense at all. Jien wasn't hurting him, not at all.

It had been another bad night at home, and he had honestly not expected to see Jien again until morning. When his brother had to go calm Mother down, he was usually gone all night, and Gojyo had to listen to them together in the other room.

He had the feeling it was wrong. At least if he went by the way other people reacted at times. But it didn't matter to him. It was just the way things were here. Mother would get angry, mostly because she wasn't his real mother, and Jien would show up before things got too bad and calm her down. The next day, it would be as close to calm as it would ever be, and life went on.

But now, there was break in the routine, and he couldn't help blinking at his brother. Jien was -never- there this soon. "Is she...?"

"She's fine. Fell asleep." Gojyo found himself looking into his brother's eyes, something in them making him squirm, though he wasn't sure why.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, kid, I am." The words were spoken against his cheek, and Gojyo didn't expect the kiss there. Or the one that followed.

He had never really kissed anyone before, but now Jien was kissing him, and he thought it was rather funny feeling. But he had seen the other two do this before, and it always seemed to help Mother, so maybe it would help Jien as well.

"Shouldn't be doing this," Jien muttered into the kiss, and Gojyo studied him, eyes narrowed. He was young, he knew that. Hell, Jien still called him a kid, though he really hated that. Still, he wasn't completely unobservant. So he just hugged his brother.

"It's okay," he told the boy who was laying next to him, body pressed against his. "It's just family, right?"

An almost rough laugh was his answer, and Jien leaned in to kiss him again. "That's right," he said, "it's just family."

That was a good answer, right? At least, Gojyo thought as his brother kissed him, it felt like he was really part of the family at last.

They are interesting to write, and I find the dynamics of the family odd. Because the family is messed up, and Gojyo doesn't know how messed up that is. Jien does, but he can't find anyway of stopping it. Not until later.

I love the dynamics between the two of them and how they would try to reach for anything that seems good in the midst of the bad things in their childhoods.

Glad you like it. Saiyuki was the first real fandom I really got big into, and I'm happy to be writing it again.

We never get to hear enough about their backgrounds, and it's always fun to play with what we do have. I'm happy it turned out well enough to make people enjoy it. Thank you for the compliment.

-loves on them- I have to admit, Jien and Gojyo were the ones to get me into the cesty parts of fandom. There isn't enough of them together in a nice way... Oh I have no idea what I'm saying except I love them and you and this and i wish it was longer so I could revel in it more.
