Prompt: FFVII: Kingdom Hearts II, LeonTifa: comfort— there were times when she didn’t know who she loved more, Leon or Cloud.
AN: A day late, sorry! And probably not what the prompter had in mind. **sheepish**
They were a lot alike, Tifa mused quietly over her mixed drink. Both stoic and noble, brave and confused. Both a little lost and a lot stubborn.
And both said they loved her.
Well, Leon said it. Cloud...well, Cloud was Cloud, but she got the message.
Sighing, she listlessly licked the tangy drink from her stir stick and plucked it at the ice cubes.
And they were both waiting for her to decide.
Neither had really given her the ultimatum, but it was there, thrown down last night when Cloud had walked in on Leon trying to kiss her. Well, he would have been kissing her if she hadn't sneezed, but that was beside the point.
Cloud had simply asked her if she was ready to go, and Leon had whispered quietly for her to stay. In the end she had gone for a walk—alone—in Aerith's gardens. She had wanted to clear her mind, and all she'd managed to do was cry and feel more confused than ever because her heart...her heart was torn.
Wasn't there only supposed to be one? She'd always believed that...had always believed that to be Cloud, but then...Leon...and he was something different and yet familiar.
She sighed, stabbed another ice cube and dropped her forehead onto the bar-top. “Why me?” she groaned.
“Well,” a soft, chipper voice said from behind her, “there are worse things in life than having two incredibly hot men in love with you.”
Without lifting her head Tifa waved a hand. “Thanks, Aerith.”
“Just doing what I can.” She gave Tifa a conciliatory back-pat as she passed.
Turning her head, Tifa eyed the pastel pink skirt swishing through the door. “You know, I remember you being a lot more comforting!” she called after the other girl.
Tinkling laughter was her only reply and Tifa was once more alone with her drink, her thoughts and her doubts.
She just didn't know who she loved more.

Date: 2010-07-08 10:12 pm (UTC)I also agree that you handled both pairings really well, though Leon was the most expressive of the two and someone who doesn't carry as much baggage. This prompt was mine, too, and though I will always have love for CloudTifa, in KH LeonTifa appeals to me more and I was happy with this fic. Your writing is always great, so thank you for this!
