After the Armageddon That Wasn’t (as it came to be called in certain Angel-Demon circles*), they did a lot of traveling. They’d seen the world before, of course, but without an Antichrist to watch over, they began to feel a wanderlust. So it was not unusual for one to wake up in the morning and find the other half of the bed empty, a brief note on the kitchen table as explanation.
“Gone to Greece, heard the weather’s lovely this time of year. Should be back within the week. Please don’t sell anything like you did last time.
~Aziraphale”
“in america, back soon, don’t eat my crisps. –c”
So Crowley wasn’t really sure what it was that made him wake with a start in the middle of the night, unable to fall back asleep (also unusual). He threw back the covers after awhile, and wished himself dressed. Grabbing the coat hanging on a hook by the door to fight the winter cold, he got in his car and began to drive.
He wasn’t sure why he ended up at the park, or why he felt compelled to get out of the Bentley and start walking, except that he had done it often enough with Aziraphale.
He wasn’t entirely surprised when he saw the angel sitting on the grass by the pond, knees pulled up halfway to his chest, his arms wrapped around his knees, looking out at the still water of the pond. Crowley dropped down next to the angel with a soft thud. Aziraphale looked at him and smiled quietly, then turned his head back to the pond.
“I was going to go back in the morning.”
“I know. You’d have left a note otherwise.”
“I was thinking about leaving. But then I got here. It looks so pretty with the moon, don’t you think?”
Crowley leaned over and kissed the angel quickly.
“Of course I do. It’s a bit cold to be sight seeing though, why don’t we go back to the house?”
Aziraphale was still smiling.
“Just a few more minutes.” Aziraphale leaned into Crowley and breathed deeply, his breath misting in the air. They sat there for a long time, until Crowley noticed that the angel was asleep. Pressing a soft kiss to his angel’s hair, he picked Aziraphale up and carried him to the car as the morning sun peeked out over the horizon.
Crowley drove them home, and when Aziraphale woke up again, they celebrated Christmas morning together. Neither of them went anywhere for a long time, and when they did, they left together.
*Namely Crowley and Aziraphale, as the rest of the Heaven and Hell seemed content not to call it anything, and to pretend that it hadn’t happened at all.

Date: 2007-07-03 08:03 am (UTC)That was sweet and lovely <3! I don't know why, but it seems slightly melancholy too? There's definitely a haunting vibe there, and I think I like it :).
*hugs*
Good stuff ^^

Date: 2007-07-03 03:45 pm (UTC)Thank you! I definitely didn't want to make them angsty, but I wasn't going for "overjoyed" either, so I'm glad it came out somewhere in the middle.
