Kiss

The first time they kissed, Kanan had done it. Gonou had wanted to, but he was almost painfully inept when it came to dealing with people. Until he had found her again, he hadn't wanted to have anything to do with anyone, but when Kanan came back into his life, he found himself reaching out once more. Still, of the two of them, she was the more outgoing, the one who smiled and made friends as easily as breathing. Of them, she was the more assertive.

Still, she wasn't anymore experienced at kissing than he was, so the kiss was a bit messy, but he found himself enjoying it. It didn't matter that she was his twin sister. All that mattered was she was the only person he cared about and she cared about him. So he had kissed back, arms wrapping around her.

That kiss seemed to open a floodgate, and they were always touching after that. Enough so that they were starting to get looks and rude comments. Gonou didn't care, but he wanted his sister to be happy, and being called unpleasant names by the people around them was making her unhappy.

So they moved.

In the new place, nobody knew they were twins. So it made things easier. Gonou got a job, and Kanan did little things to bring in money. Sometimes things got hard, but they had each other, so that made everything okay.

It was in the new place where they finally moved into the next level of their relationship. Until then, they had shared a bed, but had never done anything more than soft, careful touches. Gonou had never wanted to hurt Kanan, and Kanan was a gentle touch anyway.

Gonou had researched, researched and researched and researched. Everything said that the first time would hurt the girl, and he really did not want to do that. Still, this was starting to get frustrating, and he tried to find someway to make it less painful for her.

In the end, it was Kanan who took them to the next stage.

One night, as they had gone to bed, she stripped down, but didn't redress in her nightgown. Instead, she went to Gonou and pushed him against the bed, settling on his stomach. Even if they hadn't been twins, he would have known what she was thinking.

"Not yet," he said, hands resting on her hips. Hips that just seemed to fit his hands perfectly. "It'll hurt you."

"I know," she told him, leaning down to kiss him again, much less messy than their first kiss, "and then it will feel better."

Gonou loved his sister, and never could deny her anything, especially not himself.

I think that perfectly, eloquently sums up most of their relationship. Very nice piece! I can just see Gonou, trying desperately not to turn and bolt, while he inquired about books related to his research quest. Library, or dirty magazines, I wonder?

I'm not sure. I'm sure he'd be all glowering and scowling when he did it, though.

It's true, too. I mean, he would do anything for her. He went out and killed at least a thousand beings, if not more, for her. And she is still very much a part of his life. Look how angry he got in Requiem when her image was used.

Oh, that was perfect. Based on what we see of the characters in the original series, I think this is very true to how things really might have been between them. Beautifully handled, and beautifully written.

Kanan and Gonou don't get nearly enough time in the series as far as I'm concerned. They got the fluffy, cuddly "I'll kill people for you" kind of love.

I like how Kanan is the instigator all through this, and how Gonou will do anything to make her happy. It's a great suggestion of how far he'll go for her, and that she really is all he lives for.

*nods* We already know how much he'll do for her in the series, and this is nothing, really, compared to that.
