Summary: Minnie is getting used to being kidnapped. The 657th time isn't nearly as bad as the first, after all.
Minnie didn't start to worry until her hands were tied up in what felt like a clove hitch. It might have been a cow hitch, but she wasn't about to quibble with issues like over or under. Pete had set her down on a cushioned bench and headed off to do whatever it was he and Mickey did when he kidnapped her. Oh, of course she'd asked once, but they were boys about it, and it wouldn't do to be unladylike.
Minnie worked her wrists free and stretched. She pushed herself to her feet and headed down the hall, her shoes clicking against the hard floor. At the end of the hall, the door led into the kitchen, and Minnie opened the lower cabinet. "Let's see...oolong...no...oh, good." Minnie fished out a bag of orange spiced green tea and bustled over to the stove to put on a kettle.
Against a counter, two stools, one tall and one short, stood next to each other. Minnie sat on the shorter of the two, swinging her feet idly. After a moment, she got up and opened the fridge to peek inside. A cake was there, decorated with pink sparkles and balloons. "Well," Minnie said to herself. "That was nice of him." She puttered around; there were dishes in the sink to be done, after all, and it was only polite to clean up if she was using his kitchen.
The kettle whistled sharply, and Minnie set her tea bag in a cup and poured the water over it. There were rumbles outside the door to the kitchen, and that was odd too. "Oh dear," she murmured to herself. "I do hope that everything will be alright." Minnie settled back onto the stool, waiting for the tea to steep properly before taking a sip.
That was when the door exploded into a pile of splinters and Mickey strode into the room. "We're LEAVING," Mickey announced.
"NOW JUST YOU WAIT A CORN PICKIN' MINUTE, MOUSE!" Pete roared, stomping in after Mickey.
"Minnie, come on," Mickey insisted. He crossed his arms.
Minnie sipped at her tea. "Is there a problem, gentlemen?"
Both of them shifted. Mickey stared at the wall, and then the ceiling, and then the wall. Pete rubbed the back of his head. "Well, it's like this, y'see, I...I mean HE forgot ta get ya a gift, and it bein' your birthday, I thought I'd surprise you with something nice..."
"He stole the present I was gonna give you, Minnie," Mickey said. "And then he broke it. But everyone's still got a swell party planned."
Minnie tipped her head to the side. "Oh, well, alright. Just let me finish my tea."
