‘Huddled Together’
Tifa shivered as she moved in further next to Cloud as they huddled together near the fire hoping that the blizzard would be over soon. It had been a simple trip, all they had to do was go to the north to retrieve some ingredients that a client of Strife’s Delivery and bring it back to the client.
But no, it couldn’t be simple for them. They had to enter the North just as a blizzard hit them, forcing them to seek shelter at one of the many inns. Of course, the Inn had suffered a heating breakdown and they were forced to use fires to keep them warm.
Cloud had muttered heatedly throughout the whole thing, obviously not impressed or happy with the situation they had gotten themselves into. They only had two blankets, forcing them to layer them together and huddle underneath it. Normally the Inn was well stocked but a lot of people, more than their usual numbers, had sought shelter leaving the Inn employees running ragged.
Cloud was now sitting quietly, his arms wrapped around Tifa as they tried their hardest to stay warm as possible.
“It would be our luck that we would end up here,” Cloud muttered, mostly to himself. Tifa grinned as she turned her face to look up at her best friend who was trying his hardest to keep his annoyance down.
“At least we’re together,” she told him before shrugging when he looked at her. “It really could be worse. We could be out there,” she gestured to the window where they could barely see past the white out. Cloud grimaced at the thought.
“We could have chosen another Inn,” he reminded.
“I think the other inns are probably experiencing the same problems,” she told him before the light overhead suddenly shorted out, leaving them with only the fire as light. Cloud groaned.
“Come on,” he complained. Tifa tried her best to hide her smile. Cloud didn’t get frustrated easily; it took a lot to annoy him so it was a rare thing for her to see him lose his cool.
“Really, it could be worse,” Tifa repeated only to get a thinly concealed look of annoyance from the blonde. They fell silent; the only noise was the crackling of the fire and the howling of the winds outside. Tifa shivered at the noise and Cloud tightened his embrace, burying his face into her hair as he did, trying his best to comfort her. Tifa had always hated the harsh winter. She didn’t mind a normal snowy day but if her view was blocked by thick snow, it scared her. She was just glad that she had Cloud with her.
Tifa turned her face into his chest, breathing in the scent of him that made her feel safe and protected no matter where they were. Cloud slipped a hand into her hair, tilting her head back and brushing his lips against hers. Tifa’s eyes closed, enjoying the warmth that she always got whenever Cloud kissed her. It just spread from her lips and made its way over her body, heating her up from the inside.
“Hm, you always know how to warm a girl,” Tifa giggled. Cloud just smiled softly against her lips.
“I only know how to warm you,” he promised before kissing her again.
