A/N: I'm sorry, it just refused to be longer than this.
The problem with one’s lover being the mind guardian was that eventually he would get inside your shields and find out all your secrets. Like the fact you secretly thought Mortanius was very handsome when he’d take off that dratted mask.
The great thing about Nupraptor was that he wouldn’t mind. After all, as the master mentalist, he was also a master of illusions.
Her almost-virginal face had gone completely red with shame when he’d told her he’d seen certain fantasies: she’d turned away and when she’d turned back she’d seen Mortanius with Nupraptor’s grin on his face.
She couldn’t stop laughing.
Of course, in exchange she had to kiss an illusion of Azimuth, but ‘she’ kissed like he did. Which was wonderfully: after all, he knew exactly how she liked it.
She’d dream of him when they were apart.
And now they were eternally parted, and the sleepless dead could not dream.
She’d never have dreamed it would come to this.

Poor Ariel!
*smirks* I think it makes complete sense that she sent Kain after her honey first. Put the poor man out of his misery!
I also applaud the little mention of possible Ariel/Mortanius (he is a hottie, damnit), *grin* homage to the jealousy ending they never actually used.
