The Beast of the Seal propped his head up on Sakura's pink bedspread, tail waving slowly as he watched her breathe. "She's quiet," he commented softly.

His opposite number did not smile, but his pale countenance was relaxed as he stroked a lock of hair away from her face. "The nightmares have receded," he said.

"Then she's won?" Kerberos's ears perked up and his golden eyes lit.

The silver head nodded, once. "It was a hard battle. She will need time to rest and recover." Both Guardians stilled as Sakura sighed, soft lashes fluttering against her cheek, but when she didn't wake her bipedal protector continued. "Still, it was bravely done," he allowed, and he didn't even sound reluctant. "She is stronger than she seems."

"Told you," Kerberos grunted, and left them alone with a final, smug swish of his tail. Only when he was out of sight did Yue allow himself to smile at the young sorceress curled up in his lap.

This is the longest Yue has spent in his true form in two hundred years, and were he allowed to cradle his young master in his wings, he would gladly stay like this for another two centuries.
