Passing the Time

It was the scuff of a shoe on metal that made him pull his gun.

"Dom."

"Ed."

They both tucked their weapons away, and watched as the water moved around them.

"Ships go too slow," Ed muttered.

"We'd have been there by now if we hadn't blown up that last one," Dom sighed, leaning on the edge of the railing. "At least Sega's weapons hit what they are supposed to."

"That was your fault, you know. Stupid grope." Ed scowled, then looked back at the water. "You'd think as many times as they send us back to Japan, they'd either leave us there, or let us fly."

Dom snorted. "They tried to send me by plane last time. Not by company plane, either. That last till they tried to take away my weapons."

They both made dismissive noises at that. "Why did they do that?"

"No idea. Something about security. Though they wouldn't listen till I told them that it's in my job-description to have them." He focused on the water again. "I just think the shipping companies passed out my picture."

"Probably. It's getting harder to find ways on. I like the challenge." Ed grinned at his friend.

Rolling his eyes, Dom shifted so he was leaning back against the railings. "You would. So, how did they equip you this time?"

The pair settled into what they did second best, talk about weaponry.

Time for mass-destruction later. After they saw Piro and Largo again.

Wow, at first I looked at the fandom and thought- WHAT? A MegaTokyo story, and Ed and Dom at that? So I gave it a look.

This is brilliant! It doesn't have hot sex, it doesn't have a twisted plot, but it has something way more important: the tone of the original.

There's humor that could have been taken right out of the strip, and each character is just right, and it is JUST what it's supposed to be- a gentle moment in time for the two of them. I can't stress enough how impressed I am that you have the feeling of MegaTokyo down pat.

My favorite line: "At least Sega's weapons hit what they are supposed to." Or maybe: The pair settled into what they did second best, talk about weaponry. It's hard to decide.

*grins* I'm glad you liked. I pulled out the books that I have and reread them all so I could remember how the story and such went. I'm glad it paid off.

Ed and Dom are such violent, violent fun.

MegaTokyo fanfiction is so hard to come by! Very in character.

Fav line: That was your fault, you know. Stupid grope. Almost didn't realize what you were refering to, then it broke my brain from laughing so hard. (I've met Dom and Fred, so it's really strange...)

I know that a majority of fans really don't like Megatokyo fanfic, so I'm going to guess that's the main reason.

*grins* Thank you. I reread most of the series before writing this. I was hoping it came out all right. And the most I've done was gone to see Piro lecture at Otakon. Lots of fun, though, and I'm glad you liked.

There's nothing wrong with fanfic, provided you don't butcher the characters. The unfortunate truth is that you have to wade through the 75 percent of bad fiction to get to the good 25.

I have a friend who is Fred!Piro's permanent guest liason for SakuraCon. He introduced me at the last con. Fred!Piro's a cool, laid back kinda guy.

This was a *lot* of fun, everything I'd hoped for when I submitted the prompt (before dropping off the face of the Internet for, like, two months) and perfectly in keeping with the characters, I felt. I could so picture this conversation taking place in canon, en route to Tokyo.
