Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None
Word count: 210
Summary: Chris figures out a few things.
Prompt: July 19-46. Petshop of Horrors, Chris/new!D : Kinship - "Picking up where the family left off"
Deductions
It was so easy to settle into this situation.
Chris has always loved the pet shop when he was young and had spent most of the time there. Oh, he knew this wasn't the same pet shop, but it was so close that it was scary. It smelt the same, a lot of the decorations were similar, and the animals.... Well, the animals were all over.
He was sure that, if he looked close enough, he'd see the people that were behind those watching eyes, and hear the words in the whispers he could almost make out.
D's smile was the same. The hair was different, but the smile was just the same. The tea, and the taste for sweets was the same as well.
While he hadn't gotten it while he was younger, Chris suddenly understood why Leon spent so much time at the pet shop, even though he was always complaining about it. It wasn't for the police work. It wasn't for the tea. It wasn't for the sweet things that the Count shared.
It was for that smile that spoke of things unknown and tasted far sweeter than anything else.
D's smile was addictive.
Chris was glad he had picked up where his brother had left off.

Date: 2007-08-05 11:37 pm (UTC)Oh, yes. I love what you've done with this, because it's no more sauce than we'd ever get in the series, but it's *just right*, and ever since I saw the ending to the first set of books (haven't read the second series, I'm scared to because I loved the first so much) I just wanted so, so hard for Chris and new!D to start up a peculiar little relationship of their own, and whee.
Thank you :), I'm so happy with this.
