Roy never told anyone this--ever, and if he did, he’d kill them if they revealed his secret. He liked watching Ed sleep. Ed never knew and would care if he found out, but Roy had luck on his side, so he didn’t worry.

Ed looked like a baby as sleep made his face red, his hair messy, and his lips slightly parted. When Roy wasn’t endless picking on “the little shrimp”, he treated him like an adult. After all, Ed did adult things, like go on dangerous missions, go into places usually reserved for adults, become a State Alchemist, and witness things that no even adults should see.

Ed slept like a baby because he wanted to ease the tears he shed the night before. He didn’t drink alcohol--something Roy often did when he found himself aching for comfort. In fact, he had more than a few shots of whiskey after finding out what happened to little Nina, and how Ed responded. The poor boy cried like a baby. Boy. Roy closed his eyes. He forgot, sometimes, just how young the Fullmetal was.

Love the contrast between Roy's conceptions of 'adult' and 'child' and how he applies them to Ed - especially in the idea that Ed does adult things despite being a child.

Roy's own response to Nina's death and Ed's reaction was also very telling. :)
