Rating: PG-13
Warnings: None
Word count: 328
Summary: Sophie is tired of the bathroom mess.
Prompt: July 23-23. Howl's Moving Castle, Howl/Sophie: Argument - “But I need those!”
A/N: I used book canon.
Potions
“But I need those!”
Sophie turned and glared at Howl. "You absolutely do not," she said, holding the little bottles in her hands. "Why would you need to dye your hair anymore? I don't even know why you felt the need to do it before all of this. I thought maybe disquise or something, but you certainly didn't attempt to hide in any other way. So it was purely vanity, wasn't it?"
"Sophie!" Howl tried again, reaching over her shoulders to pluck the bottles from her until she stole them back and said, in a very firm voice, "You will stay in my arms until I tell you to."
Living with Howl had helped Sophie develop a very -firm- firm voice. The bottles listened, refusing to be moved by Howl, by hand or by magic.
"I am vain," he told her. "You knew that when you married me. I'm vain, I'm a coward, and I want my hair supplies back, Sophie. Do you know how hard it is to get them here in this world? My sister has to send them. And you've seen how -she- is when it comes to me."
"Yes," Sophie said right back, "And I feel all the sympathy in the world for her."
Howl pouted at her. Well, almost. He gave her that look that still made her breath catch in her throat when he did it right.
Unfortunately, her frustration with how the bathroom looked whenever Howl got done with his hair had reached a boiling point.
"Calcifer!"
"Yeah, Sophie?"
"Here."
With that, Sophie dropped the bottles into the fire, much to the surprised yelps of both Howl and Calcifer. The fire demon began to turn funny colors. "I think I'm going to be sick," he said, sinking back down into the wood as the potions in the bottles soon began to escape.
"You are a horrible woman," Howl scowled at her.
"You knew that when you married me," Sophie reminded him.

Date: 2007-07-24 02:27 am (UTC)You have no idea how happy those four little words made me.
I loved this. It's adorable, cute, and so very accurate for them both. They make me laugh and squee at their interactions, particularly the "You knew that when you married me" from both of them.

Date: 2007-07-26 08:01 am (UTC)Sophie is awesome and needs more love. And Howl should just take Vain as his middle name.
*glees* Glad you enjoyed it. I can't wait for the second prompt I picked up from the series.
