A/N: This is based off one of my AUverse, Fresh Beginnings. Basically, all five were raised in the labs.


Playing

It was the first time they had ever been out of the labs. All of them, together.

For Tifa and Aeris, it was the first time they had ever been out of the labs at all. Sephiroth, Zack, and Cloud had been in Wutai, fighting for Shin-Ra's war, and the girls had been left in the labs, subject to more tests and studies.

But now, Vincent had gotten the boys, and they had all come back.

For the first time, the five played. Really played, not just lab tests, not something hidden from technicians. Just played.

Rough and tumble, it was not gentle. The boys had been in a war zone for far too long, and forgot that there were things like gentle. Instead, they fought, as if sparring. There was a crack, a pop, and Zack was frowning at his thumb, which looked wrong. When Aeris had gone to see if she could help, he waved her off.

"No," he said, "don't touch it."

Sephiroth came over and, after studying a moment, set it back into place.

A simple cure later, and Zack was grinning at everyone again.

"Come on." A cheerful voice. "Let's play."

*grins* I keep getting comments like that in regards to this universe. Especially the whole Sephiroth calling Zack "His present-person".

It's a fun little verse.

....their definition of 'play' matches really well with Loz's definition. o.o I remember watching the Loz-Tifa fight and then after the phonecall, you realize that yes, he had been playing till then.

*pats them* Well, till then, the boys had been in a war, so their idea of playing is a little...off. *nods*

It was such a cool thing to watch, that Loz-Tifa fight.
