Word Count: 329
A/N: Prompt: Final Fantasy VII, Elena/Reno: Dancing - "flash of light"
Elena had known their mission was hopeless the instant she and Reno had walked in the door. There was simply no way they were going to find a suspicious man with "an unknown materia emitting a distinctive green flash" in a crowded club with colored lights on the dance floor. (Unless they physically ran into him. And he was visibly holding the materia. It would help if he gave up right then, too.)
Which was the only reason she'd allowed this. She suspected she'd been sent along with Reno as a grounding influence as much as because she was least likely to look out of place. But her patience was finite, and after an hour of standing around sipping water she was bored out of her mind and wondering why exactly it was that this mission had to be done covertly.
So when Reno had leaned in, touching her shoulder, breath warm on her ear, and said, "Let's reconnoiter the dance floor, what d'ya say?" she'd hesitated only a moment before following him. The shifting lights turned his hair strange colors.
Elena had always liked dancing. Generally that was not what happened at clubs, of course. Grinding together drunkenly with no rhythm was not the same thing as dancing. It became not worth the attempt, after a while. But neither of them had been drinking - they were technically on the job, after all - and Reno had always been able to move.
It was rather embarrassing the way that her body lit up immediately when he pulled her in close. But she nevertheless enjoyed the feel of his warm body shifting with hers, graceful and in sync with the thudding beat pounding through the floor. Heat pooled low in her body as she pressed closer.
And he was Reno, which meant the fingers pressing at the dip of her back were callused, and the hand sliding up her thigh stopped before the pleats and buckles of her skirt were pushed up enough to flash her thigh holster.
