"You have to look at it, Peter," Isaac snarls, fingers twisting harshly in Peter's soft hair. "Look!" Isaac yanks Peter's head up, hauls him closer to the still-wet canvas.

"I don't want to know, Isaac," Peter says. "Can't you just let me go day to day, enjoy whatever time it is we have left? A week, a year, a lifetime? I just want to be with you!"

"Open your eyes, Peter. Don't you leave me alone with this!"

Peter looks, winces, eyes brimming with tears. "When?" he whispers.

"Tomorrow."

"Then we still have tonight," Peter says. "Let's not waste it."
