A/N- this was for Feb 15. sorry about the lateness.

The stairs were oddly cool through his pants, against his knees. A splatter of blood was busy seeping stealthily from stone to denim, and Shinjiro had to work to keep himself from grinning like a madman. Blood usually went in the other direction, from him onto the floor, dripping and running with unfortunate regularity.

Things generally ran from him, rarely to. He was a repulsive force armed with a scowl and affected misanthropy. Things moved away, not towards. Not into. It made Akihiko’s actions all the more incomprehensible; the way lips had slid across his own before teeth latched on to hold them both in place. Whose teeth, Shinjiro wasn’t really sure. He might have bitten out of surprise, a stray dog’s reflexive snarling defense of its personal space; its safe distance from everything else.

There wasn’t space between them, not in the way Akihiko crushed against his back, thrusting into him between pants muffled against his shoulder blade. There was false intimacy in the almost accidental lighting and oppressive ambiance that Tartarus provided. It was an unlikely location for an improbable assignation. Reality slithered to the side, and brought them together.

Shinjiro felt Akihiko’s movements shift, altering enough to cause alarm. A hand lifted from its bruising grasp of Shinjiro’s left hip and Shinjiro lifted his head from where it had been resting against a step.

“Don’t take off the gloves.”

Skin on skin was too intimate, was incomprehensibly close. Shinjiro felt Akihiko pause; taken aback by the growled warning.

Ultimately, Akihiko conceded. That, at least, was familiar.

Oh, poor misanthropic Shinji, not knowing what to do with someone who actually likes him. This fic was very sweet, but also a little sad in that Shinjiro still wants that distance between them, and Akihiko won't push it, so they are always a little bit apart. Loved this.

On a more serious comment, I really liked this one. The introspection, the reasons and. Shinjiiii ;^; It hurt when he said Akihiko to not take off his gloves.
