Author's Notes: For the prompt: Kingdom Hearts, Xemnas/Zexion: possession - "Well of course. The Organization belongs to me."
Zexion gazes up at the darkened ceiling and does not really feel much of anything; he does, however, remember what it was like to want something like this, or someone else wanting something like this: Ienzo thin-lipped and quiet, keeping his eye on Xehanort, waiting for the opportune moment to slide his notes over and get notice.
There had been a lot Ienzo had done for attention. Respect wasn't hard; respect was a default state when everyone there was the best of the best. Attention was something else; being the best of the best meant that quality was expected and did not deserve attention. Still, he hoped nevertheless, because Xehanort was the best among them and, if not the brightest, something like it.
It is not like that now; it is also not difficult to remember that state. But Xemnas is not Xehanort, and he is not himself Ienzo, and he is very tired.
"Of course, Superior," he says, quiet and obedient; the Superior does always demand obedience and can be fearsome when crossed, and he keeps a very close eye out for traitors. Then again, he does know well what happens to a leader who cannot keep his followers in line. "The Organization belongs only to you."
"Very good," Xemnas says, and turns away, dismissing him.
Zexion pulls his coat on with an almost-offhand aggravation; still, he thinks, still, it is stupid; it is not as though possession is something that can be marked on their bodies as it might be on a human's. A needless sentimentalism; not the sort of thing he would normally think Xemnas guilty of.
"Is there anything else, Superior?" Zexion asks coolly.
"No. Carry on," Xemnas says, and does not turn back; he has already dismissed Zexion from his attention.
Thin-lipped and irritated, Zexion bows and goes about his business.
