Now you are lost in your way. Deep in an awesome story. So I will find you again. Kiss you for lonesome folly.

Cloud wasn't sure where they'd come from, but when he woke, he couldn't get the words out of his mind. There was no denying the voice that spoke them. He'd always remember Aerith's soft, clear tone, the comforting note of humor it almost always held. So, somehow, the words comforted him, even though he had no idea what they meant.

All he knew was that, since the second banishing of Sephiroth, he'd slept well and risen happy, but exhausted every morning. People had started noticing the dark circles beneath his eyes, how he'd grown distant, how he spent so much time at the broken down church alone.

He made his way there, as he did every morning, pleased to discover that enough of the water had receded to allow the white lilies Aerith had loved so much to return in one corner of the building. Sunlight streamed through the stained class windows, casting colored shadows across flowers and waters alike.

He'd lived here once, but only for a short while. He'd had no place else to go. He'd been unable to face his friends, his family, even himself. That was past and yet, there was still something, some longing deep inside, that kept drawing him here.

I'm here, he thought. Can you see me

He'd seen her there in the church when the rain had fallen, seen her as she'd knelt to heal a child...seen her with Zack, who had loved her in a previous life. They'd both smiled and he'd known that none of what had happened to them had really been his fault. As much as he wished he could keep the bad from happening, he'd acted when it counted, offering himself to keep Sephiroth from his attempt to destroy the world again.

What do you think? The voice in his mind was sweet and tinged with laughter.

The answer was unexpected, but when he whirled, he found Aerith standing in the center of the flower patch, watching him.

Why do you come here? she asked. What are you searching for, Cloud? What do you need?

I... His shoulders rose and fell. I guess I don't know. Maybe I'll know it when I find it?

Her laughter filled the church, light and crystal clear. And while it raised his spirits and warmed him, he felt a flush he couldn't explain creep into his cheeks.

Too many people live their lives searching for something that doesn't exist. Do you want to be like them? Do you want to waste each precious moment you have left?

What's that supposed to mean? The words came out cross. He'd thought she'd understand. She'd always understood everything before.

We should gather strength from our memories, not continue to live in them once they've passed. What good is life if you don't create new memories every day you're alive?

Cloud didn't have an answer, couldn't imagine what memories were left to experience. His friends had scattered again, once the danger had passed, and he was left searching here for the two people who'd meant the most to him in the world.

What's wrong, SOLDIER?

Cloud whirled to find Zack behind him, hands on hips; a grin split his face.

It was you I saw.

What'd you think I was? The grin deepened. A ghost?

Cloud's gaze swept the church, from Aerith to Zack. If you're not a ghost, what are you?

We've moved on, Zack said, hooking one arm through Cloud's, dragging him across the floor toward Aerith. Places to go, people to see...that kind of stuff.

What's it like?

Aerith laughed. Don't you remember?

Cloud frowned as he shook his head. Remember? No. Remember what?

The world shifted around them until they stood in the center of a field of lilies that spread as far as they eye could see. Sunshine, too bright to be real, rained down on the field, bathing them in warmth that restored him, made him feel rested and whole inside.

You've got to stop living in the past, buddy, Zack advised with a sad smile. This is where we belong now. You've got to let us go. You've got to move on.

But...

Zack's right, Aerith agreed, sliding up beside him, running one hand up his arm. Remember us. Love us. Allow the time we've spent together to give you strength. But, let us go, Cloud. Let us move on while you move forward with your life.

Cloud licked his lips. But, I...what if...I don't know what to...

Zack silenced him with a kiss that left him breathless while Aerith stripped him of his clothes. A part of his mind told him he should protest, but the warmth of the sun and the gentle caresses that trailed across his skin silenced his doubts and left him wanting more.

He wasn't sure when he hit the ground, but there were flowers towering over him by the time they joined him, their clothes discarded among stems and leaves that blew in the growing breeze. It stirred his hair while Aerith straddled and stroked until he was hard enough for her to mount him.

She lowered herself onto him with a contented sigh. The heat of her drove a thrill of pleasure through his body. She tightened as she rode him, slowly, deliberately moving her body up and down until a knot formed in his abdomen and his cock quivered for release inside her.

Not yet, Zack protested. Not yet.

With a giggle and a smile, she stretched her upper body across Cloud, her breasts crushed against his body. He longed to touch them, squeeze them, fill his mouth with the taste of her, the texture of her skin. But, her weight held him pinned while her body held him captive, torn between his desire to climax and the wish that it would never end.

When Zack plunged into her from behind, her smile vanished with a soft moan. But, when they moved together, her smile returned, her rhythm matched the flow she'd found before. She slowed until Cloud wanted to scream, leaned back into Zack while his arms wrapped around her and his fingers dropped between her legs.

There was a moment's jealousy when Cloud realized he could never have what Zack had with her, but he counted himself blessed that they'd chosen to share themselves with him. The slow circular movements of Zack's fingers made Aerith gasp, made her tense. When her breathing quickened, she grew desperate, tightening around Cloud as she pounded up and down against him.

Her climax drove a thrill into him. He heard Zack cry out the moment before he trembled in release. Caught in the throes of orgasm, they shuddered together, sharing the energy as they passed it back and forth in pleasure Cloud hoped would never end.

He woke to the warmth of the sun as it spilled across his face and down his chest. With a contented sigh, he rolled into its welcome heat.

It was the silence that made him open his eyes to the reality that he was alone in his own bed, in his own room. No.

He pushed himself upright, sliding from beneath the covers and from the bed, caught in a moment of disappointment before he smelled the soft fragrance of lilies in the air.

Aerith? Could it have all been a dream? Zack?

What are you looking for, Cloud? So soft, he could have imagined it. What do you need?

The soft fall of footsteps in the hall dragged his gaze toward the door. The smell of breakfast filled the air, made his stomach growl.

With a smile, he reached for his clothes. Nothing. What he was looking for had been under his nose all the time. I have it, Aerith...everything I need.
