Rules for Claiming
Apr. 6th, 2008 04:09 pmI. To claim a prompt: Copy and paste the desired prompt(s) (please include date) as a comment here -- (June 1st through 6th) or here -- (June 7th through June 12th) or here -- (June 13th through June 18th) or here -- (June 19th through June 24th) or here -- (June 25th through June 30th). [Ex. June 25th - Devil May Cry, Dante/Gloria: Kinky disguise - “I say we give the kid a twenty minute start. However shall we spend that time?”] Each prompt can be claimed a total of four times (twice for fic and twice for art).
II. You will be asked to write at least 100 words per prompt. There is no max. Let it take you wherever it may!
III. Collaborations are welcome and encouraged.
IV. Please be patient. I will note your request as soon as I am able to.
V. You must post your work on the date your claimed prompt is listed under.
I'll be opening the master lists up for claiming at 10:30 PM London time today (April 6th). Click here to see the relevant time for your area.
Please feel free to interpret the prompt in whatever way seems most interesting to you (wherever the story takes you), as long as you don't completely ignore the elements that the requester submitted. Part of the fun of the challenge, after all, is seeing how people can take the same starting idea and come up with different responses to it.

Date: 2008-04-06 03:53 pm (UTC)(I'd probably wait until the end of the claiming session anyway, just in case 2 others want the prompt, but still)

Date: 2008-04-06 04:21 pm (UTC)(Trust me, I know the feeling)
However, if you're suddenly inspired to write your own prompt, there's no ruling against posting it on your own LJ/to other communities :). Just no posting it in springkink!

Date: 2008-04-06 04:02 pm (UTC)Oh, wanted to ask: if I can't be around for a certain posting date, is it still possible to claim and write the thing pre-posting and uh, beg someone to help me put it up or something? *hopeful*

Date: 2008-04-08 12:09 am (UTC)No worries! A few of the prompts I was considering claiming actually was claimed twice while I was gone, and this is probably a good thing. I don't want to overdo it.

Date: 2008-04-06 05:56 pm (UTC)I want to make sure I get some of these prompts. ;-) One is at least half written in my head already. ;-)

Date: 2008-04-06 08:25 pm (UTC)It's so hard seeing the prompt lists and trying to go "Okay, that prompt is awesome but *can I write it on time*?"

Date: 2008-04-06 06:12 pm (UTC)I just want to make sure that I'm not accidently picking up an old prompt of mine from Oct (because I so cannot remember that far back ^^;; )

Date: 2008-04-06 07:10 pm (UTC)I think I managed to not overload myself this round (no, twenty is not a 'nice round number', even if it did get me down from twenty-one.) even though I kinda picked up another shiny after I'd already finalized my list. XD; Which means I'll actually be able to post them on time, yay! ^.^;

Date: 2008-04-06 07:56 pm (UTC)And that is such a good idea! I think I might take three or four prompts that I'm immediately inspired for and then come back for further prompts at a later date so I don't end up claiming an inordinate amount.
*hugs*!

Date: 2008-04-07 02:29 am (UTC)But there are a couple that if I let others take them and find they have been mishandled will require stabbityness. They could be either very good or very OOC...

Date: 2008-04-06 10:52 pm (UTC)Split everything into 5 lots of 6 this time because last round the three pages quickly reached LJ's word limit and needed splitting up; this way there shouldn't be any need for further splitting.
Thank you again hon :)

Date: 2008-04-07 02:35 am (UTC)I think of it as incentive for people to submit additional prompts in the popular fandoms, really. That way, they not only get their submissions up there for grabs, but it ups the odds of people claiming their submissions instead of claiming the things they themselves want to write. The more shiny prompts you submit, the more will be left over for you to claim!
It also means people get more prompts to choose from.
Althouth I personally submit weird prompts because I like writing weird prompts, so yeah.

Date: 2008-04-07 09:35 am (UTC)Does it actually work like that? (Honest question.) I know that I tried to claim fic I wanted to write; if I haven't got those ones, I'm not going to go and claim ones that I don't want to write. Especially when they're meant to be kink-oriented - either I can write that kink or I can't, and even if I didn't get a single prompt I wanted and there are sad and lonely prompts left over, I'm not going to be claiming anything I know I can't write.

Date: 2008-04-07 03:14 pm (UTC)Well, a lot of people are only going to want to write so many prompts. Obviously they're going to have to prioritize if there are more they want to write then they have the time for, but if some of their highest ones are claimed that leaves time/spaces open. That's probably the reason for the policy, or that would be my guess.

Date: 2008-04-10 06:37 pm (UTC)Hope that explains everything <3. I don't want to step on our beloved mod's toes, that's why I'm taking so long, but ultimately I can't keep everyone happy by hanging on forever (even if I try to!), so I'm gonna get this sorted over the weekend come rain or sunshine :).

Date: 2008-04-10 07:07 pm (UTC)...I used to go through and put everything back in alphabetical order in my 300+ book library as a meditation thing. And put some tape on the beat-up ones. If it weren't for the fact I find that boring when it's work I'd say I was born to be a librarian.
