Author's Notes: I actually had fun with this fic! I just kept imagining Hikaru being all cute and genki throughout the whole thing. Though now, I'm a little nervous; first fic posted here and all...

Lantis blinked as he saw his lady knight packing a large basket with food. “Milady Hikaru,” he quietly inquired, “why have you summoned me here to the kitchen? And why would we need all this food for?”

“Let’s wait until Eagle-kun gets here first before I explain,” Hikaru stated with a large, cheerful smile. By the Rune-Gods, she was so beautiful when she smiled while standing in a beam of sunlight...but that still didn’t help answer his questions about the situation.

“I’m sorry I’m late!” Eagle rushed into the kitchen. “I had to finish up a talk with--“ He stopped and looked around. “...Where are the servants?”

“Oh, I sent them on their breaks after they helped made the food for us.”

Eagle raised his eyebrows. “For us?” he echoed.

“Hikaru, what exactly is going on?” Lantis asked in a more serious tone.

“Oh, we’re just going to go on a flowering viewing picnic for the day."

Both men only had blank stares in response to that statement.

“Flower viewing picnic? Do the people of Cephiro do that?” Eagle asked Lantis.

“No... This is the first I’ve heard of such a thing.”

“Whaaaa?! Neither of you have ever gone on a flower-viewing trip before?” Hikaru gasped in surprise. Then, her face lit up with joy as she went on to say, “It’s one of the most wonderful things to do during springtime back in Tokyo! You get to sit right beneath a whole bunch of flowering trees, and eat a lot of yummy foods, and have lots of fun with friends and family!” Her face grew dreamy as she continued, “It’s even romantic when it’s only you and your lovers, sitting on a picnic blanket, feeding each other sweets as beautiful petals shower down all around you...” She sighed long and wistfully.

“I think she’s been talking with Umi and that dancer again,” Eagle whispered to Lantis, who slightly nodded in agreement.

“Besides, it’s been a long time since we’ve done anything all by ourselves,” Hikaru went on to say, "so I decided that today, the three of us should--"

“Um, Hikaru...”

“Yes, Eagle?”

“Do you remember the last time we tried anything ‘romantic’?”

“Ooooooh, yes! That wonderful, wonderful hot spring lit by golden candles, where you could put rose petal oil on yourself after you’re done soaking in the spring... The one I reserved just for the three of us for our little weekend together?”

Eagle was trying to force down the bright blush on his cheeks. “Yes, well...you do remember how one of Ascot’s friends came crashing through the walls, don’t you?”

“But I left a note explaining where we were!”

“Apparently, they didn’t find it in time to keep them from panicking, thinking that the three of us had been kidnapped by rival forces,” Lantis pointed out.

“Hmph!” The redhead planted her hands on her hips, lips in her ‘I’m not impressed with your reason/excuse’ pout. “And you two could do any better than I could? What about that so-called ‘training trip’ you two took last month?”

Now, Lantis’ cheeks were bright red. “We most certainly did not realize that Lord Ferio was also in the area! Had we known, we would’ve taken better precautions...”

“As it was, though, I’m just glad he stumbled onto us the next morning instead of the night before,” Eagle muttered, his entire face matching Hikaru’s hair.

“But what exactly is your point, milady?” Lantis inquired.

“My point is that we learn from our mistakes. This time, I left the note in an obvious place, and its details are that we are to be left alone until we return here for dinner, unless there is truly an emergency. And everyone will be in the palace itself or around the grounds all day; I checked myself. That means that this time, we’ll be able to spend an entire day all by ourselves, without any unnecessary interruptions. So, do you two want to have a picnic between some flowering trees with me?”

The two men exchanged glances. They weren’t as confident about the plan as she did, but she had that super-sweet, ‘you’ll do what I say because you love me, right?’ smile...

“If milady truly needs our company for the day...”
