Title: Weird

Summary: Sephiroth/Maleficent: a twisted, romantic courtship (Walks down the Beach of Darkness, using the dead head/body of the enemy as a token of love, planning world domination over a candlelight dinner, etc.) - "You make me feel/You make me feel/You make me feel/Like a natural woman..." (Aretha Franklin, "Natural Woman")
Author's Note: It looks like the only thing I didn't work in was the song... oh and the beach. Also, I think the Internet hates me right now.
This angel missing a wing was certainly an intriguing fellow. He was also moderately insane, which could make him useful if she played him right. It was entirely possible that Pete was right about whether or not they should trust him, but the cat was underestimating her. The angel would not be taking her down with him when he fell… if he fell. He was certainly not lacking in power.
As for his insanity, there were times when it slipped away and left a fairly sane, if somewhat brusque, individual behind. He was polite enough and it was fair to say he was handsome.
The invitation to dinner had been a surprise. He’d made reservations at a restaurant on a world she was thinking to scour for strong Hearts from which to make strong Heartless. The cuisine would be referred to as Italian on that world and it was actually not bad. She toyed briefly with the idea of taking the chefs and keeping them in her service. Or perhaps not. One of them tended to disappear out the back door to feed some scraps to a local mongrel. And were they playing a love song for the dog and the bitch he’d brought with him? Fools. However, the mongrel seemed to have a strong Heart. It seemed this invitation was not entirely frivolous. The angel seemed pleased when she sent some Heartless after the dogs. Two days later, they had a strong, dog-like Heartless at their command.
He was proving quite useful in her search for a stronghold, as well. He knew of a few places that might be suitable, if only temporarily, and he was quite good at cleaning them out. The castle with the strange creatures that seemed to drop spores was probably the only one that didn’t suit, but that world had provided many strong Heartless.
Still, there was a nagging thought that Pete might be right. The angel clearly had his own agenda and it was unlikely that he would stick around if their partnership made his goal difficult.
His goal being that blond boy from his home world actually made things easier, at least on her. Once the Keybearer found that the angel was after someone he considered a friend, he was bound to get in the way. It was an opportunity to be rid of the little pest. She need not even get involved herself. Let the brat’s natural desire to help others get him killed.
Or not. The angel had beaten the boy easily and certainly seemed to enjoy the fear he saw on the boy’s face. But rather than finish him off, the angel simply chuckled and sent that accursed brat to fetch his real target. The target, Cloud, had been waiting to know where the angel was and came running. The Keybearer followed, obviously surprised and looked on as a wilder battle ensued. Just when it seemed that the angel might win, someone else interrupted. The fight resumed and the combatants… vanished. Without a trace. Some much for the aid of the powerful angel.
She was not really the type to dwell on things. The angel had been useful, certainly. And he had not been bad company. But he was not irreplaceable. There were others whose goals could be used to garner their aid…
She told herself that the only reason she missed the angel was that she had liked having an intelligent companion to counter Pete’s foolishness.
It was a lie.
