The uniforms were not cute at all. It hung too loosely on her, the skirt was too long, and she just did not like dark colors. Still, Sakura had suggested that Aya go to Lillian Private Girl's School, as it had a very good European language program - especially for French - and Sakura really wanted to go on a tour of Europe with her someday.
Aya let out a heavy sigh. She stood in front of the statue of the Virgin Mary. She had arrived rather early on this first day, so there were few other people around. The few students who had also arrived early looked so comfortable in the dark uniform, and that made Aya feel like she stood out even more. However, flowers did seem to be a major theme of this school, so she felt a little bit more at home.
Aya clutched her schoolbag tighter and was about to head for the high school building, but then somebody cried out to her, "Excuse me!"
Aya turned her head, and a girl who wore her wavy brown hair in pigtails ran up to her. "Your scarf is crooked," the brunette said. "I'll fix it for you."
"Uh, thank you," Aya said, blushing as the brunette quickly fixed her scarf. "My name's Fujimiya Aya. I'm new here, so I'm a little bit at a loss."
The brunette smiled. "My name's Fukuzawa Yumi," she introduced herself. "I'm part of the student council, and I'd love to help you out. Since we have a little time before class, I can show you the Rose Mansion and we can have some sweets."
Aya also smiled, and although it was probably a nervous smile, her delight was sincere. "That sounds nice, Yumi-san."
"Yumi!" called out a beautiful girl with long, black hair as she walked up to Yumi and Aya. "So this is where you are."
"I was making a friend," Yumi told the beautiful girl. To Aya, she said, "Aya-san, this is my grande sœur, Ogasawara Sachiko-sama."
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Sachiko said to Aya, bowing slightly.
Aya returned Sachiko's bow. "The pleasure's all mine."
Yumi took Aya's hand into her own. "We - my sœur and I - will make your time at Lillian very memorable," she promised. She looked up at Sachiko, and Sachiko smiled softly and then nodded. After that, Sachiko took Aya's free hand, and she and Yumi began leading Aya to the Rose Mansion.
Aya still didn't like the uniforms, but a warm welcome could make anything better.
