Sometimes, Riku was so very glad that Kairi and Sora knew him so well.
Like the times he had fights with his father, and they would sit with him, silent, until he was ready to talk.
Like the times the locals would pull away when they realized the source of his powers, and Sora would act loud and bright so he could slip away-sometimes with Kairi, sometimes without-and not have to see their scared or wary faces.
Like the times he woke up, half-there memories of a beach at night filled with Darkness, a city empty of Hearts, a force strangling his mind and Heart and not stopping-, and they would come and sit with him, only this time curled up together like puppies in a basket, they knowing he needed to feel them as much as their power to re-anchor himself.
Other times, they were a pain in the neck.
“Will you two knock it off!”
“Not until you smile.”
“We can wait as long as you want.”
Honestly, how was he supposed to brood properly when they insisted on tackling him, sitting on him, and tickling him?
