Title: Alive
Author:
misura
Rating: PG
Warnings: None.
Summary: The good news was that they were both still alive.
A/N: A drabblet. [post-main-series]
Waves crashing on a shore, the taste of sand in his mouth and the dawning realization that he's still alive, followed by an awareness of someone sitting nearby, smoking.
"You know," said Yohji (because it was him, of course - bad guys'd almost drown, but good guys would somehow get out all in one piece; this was why Schuldich hated the concept of karmic justice), "I've been thinking."
A novel experience, I'm sure. Did it hurt? The advantage of being a telepath: you never needed to let the state of your throat keep you from making sarcastic, cliched comments.
"They - whomever those people you were working for were - probably think you're dead."
Schuldich had thought the same, less than five minutes ago. One of the few times Estet and he had agreed on something, quite likely, however briefly.
"We could go somewhere." Yohji took another drag from his cigarette. "Anywhere. I figure I'm long overdue for a break anyway, and, well, I've been saving up a bit. Not a lot, but ... " He shrugged.
Schuldich considered this. In the long list of idiotic statements made by Yohji Kudoh, this most recent one probably ranked only slightly above 'I can't believe we had sex here' and a little under 'you love me'. Kritiker might not be everywhere, but Estet was, even though they'd taken considerable losses.
What were you thinking of?
"Dunno," said Yohji. "Japanese is the only language I'm fluent in, anyway. Bit of English, maybe."
Schuldich had heard Yohji's English. Crawford's reaction had been highly amusing.
How does Europe sound?
Trying to teach Yohji German might be good for a laugh, if nothing else.
