Title:  Face in the Mirror
Author: belladonna12
Rating: G
Word count:  464
Summary:  Talking to the mirror sometimes helps to sort things out.
A/N:   I humbly apologize if this isn’t my best work ever, I’ve been extremely sidetracked when it comes to ficcing this springkink, first with a job, then with moving.  I also apologize for all fics turned in after their proper dates, as I have no home internet, and the nearest library with internet is a three mile walk.  I will try to do better.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the ideas for Kingdome Hearts, nor am I making any money off of this.
Prompt:
Kingdom Hearts, Kairi+Namine or Sora+Roxas: Mirror Image - Sometimes, it's just easier talking to the face in the mirror.

Face in the Mirror

“You just don’t get it!  Riku and Kairi are my friends, Mom.  Deal with it.”

“Sora!”  Sora didn’t stay to hear his mother’s objections, though.  He stormed out the door, down the street, and headed for the docks.

The smaller islands didn’t change.  They remained as they’d been the day darkness swallowed them.  The caves, the Paopu tree, the buildings were all the same, with one exception.  Sora and Kairi had insisted.  Riku had rolled his eyes, thrown his hands in the air, and given in.  It was something he couldn’t understand or do.  Still, he loved them, so he’d given into their requests.

He’d brought the mirror to the island for them.

Sora closed his eyes, laying his cheek against the glass.  It soothed him, so smooth and cool and unreal feeling.  The mirror served another purpose, as well as reflecting Sora.  It was his and Kairi’s tool for talking to their Other halves.

“Roxas, I want to talk to you.”  Sora drew back, opening his eyes to find the reflection within the mirror had changed.  Roxas stood in the mirror, dressed in Organization black.  Since Roxas tended to reflect Sora’s moods, the bad guy uniform wasn’t a good sign.

“What’s up, Sora?”  At least Roxas was concerned.  Or faking it for Sora.  Sora still wasn’t sure which.  He sighed, causing Roxas to quirk up an eyebrow.

“My Mom.  She suddenly thinks that Riku and Kairi are a bad influence on me.  She thinks it’s all their fault that I disappeared for so long.”  There’s a comfort to this that Sora can’t define.  Maybe the fact that Roxas deep down is Sora.  Sometimes, it’s just easier talking to the face in the mirror.

“Not the best time to break it to her that you’re in love with them both, then?”  Roxas put his hand on the mirror glass, gloves vanishing in favor of his black and white fingerbands.  Sora sighed, rubbing his forehead.

“Yeah, definitely not tonight.  I’m so confused, Roxas.  How can I love them both?”  Roxas smiled, shaking his head.

“I’d say it’s not so much how as why.  You love Kairi because she understands.  She knows when to hold back and when to follow you.  Riku, well… he threw the darkness away for you two, then plunged back into it with little hesitation to save you.  He loves you and Kairi enough to sacrifice everything for you.”  Roxas’s smile turned wistful.  “Just like Namine and Axel loved me.”  He vanished before Sora could reply, clearly terminating the conversation for the night.  Sora shook his head, turning back for the dock and his boat.  Roxas had helped him a little at least.  Maybe he’d borrow Riku’s couch for the night.

And talk about his conversation with the face in the mirror.
