Title: Get Over The Rain
Author: [livejournal.com profile] soleil_de_lune
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Ikkaku has a foul mouth.
Word count: 480
Prompt: November 4th: Bleach, Ikkaku/Yumichika: bitching - soaked in a storm
Note: Bleeh. I'll post the drabble for the 6th when I wake up in the morning. I do apologize for the tardiness with these--this one in particular. The title for this one comes from a T.M. Revolution that may have nothing to do with the plot... but I do like it, and it seems to fit a bit ^^;

ETA: So, my rating sense was off last night, and I forgot that Ikkaku drops a few non-PG words... So the rating has been changed to properly reflect that.

Yumichika was beside himself. Nothing had gone well since they left the headquarters of the 11th Division. The battle was boring, the sun too bright earlier in the day, and he was just having a terrible day with his hair. On and on, he prattled on for what seemed like forever about menial things that Ikkaku just couldn’t bring himself to give a damn about. But he was used to Yumichika’s complaining on days like these, and while he was disappointed in the fight himself, he just took it in stride and looked forward to the next. Things couldn’t really get worse for the afternoon. If he could endure Yumichika’s bitching just a little longer…

 But no, the forces of the universe were against him. The sky darkened, and he turned a critical eye up to the ominous clouds, hoping it didn’t mean what he thought it did. And of course it did, because as Yumichika began to slowly taper off in his complaints, the sky opened up and poured down on them. Yumichika all but wailed in indignant frustration at his ill luck. Ikkaku swore.

 The rain kept pounding onto them, forcing them to pick up the pace back toward headquarters. Ikkaku opened his mouth to suggest shunpo, which would certainly get them back much quicker, and Yumichika cut him off with a long tirade about the weather, and his hair, and his all around unfortunate day.

Ikkaku snapped.

He stopped and seized Yumichika’s shoulders, shaking him and making them both stationary targets for the pouring rain. “Oh my god. Do you ever shut up about the stupid shit? It’s just a little rain. Your hair won’t be any worse now than it was earlier. The fight sucked, but at least it’s over. It’s raining now, so the sun won’t shine in your eyes and blind you anymore. Are you ever happy about anything?”

Yumichika looked stunned, but blinked a bit, clearing the streams of rainwater from his eyes. “I… well… of course I do.” He stammered, too surprised by Ikkaku’s outburst to mind the way his hair was plastered to his head. “It’s just been a terrible day.” He noted again, and thought a little belatedly that perhaps that was not the right thing to say.

Rolling his eyes dramatically (but not so dramatic as Yumichika was being, he rather thought), Ikkaku shoved Yumichika against the wall of the nearest building and kissed him. The latter being too shocked to do much more than tense up and stare wide-eyed, Ikkaku finally considered this a victory in getting Yumichika to shut up.

When he was finished, he let go of his friend’s wrists and continued walking down the streets toward the 11th Division. Yumichika stood, back pressed against the wall, for a long moment before regaining his senses and following Ikkaku down the street in astonished but pleasant silence.

The mental image of Ikkaku shoving Yumichika against a wall to kiss him in the rain? Definitely squeal-worthy.

Loved this.
