Title: Rebirth of a Vision

Prompt: Final Fantasy VII, The Turks + Rufus: Loyalty – Shinra is no more, but Rufus is still alive.
Word count: 397
Rufus Shinra was not an easy man to get along with. He had always thought he was special and acted as such. He was above all others. People were there simply to do his bidding and this attitude had only been enhanced when he'd taken over the Shinra Electric Power Company.
The Turks were special too, but in a far different way to Rufus. They protected him and that made them important.
Not that he didn't think he couldn't protect himself, if need be, but if he didn't have to dirty his hands directly then that was all the better for him. Sure, he used the Turks for his own ends but they weren't slaves - they were being paid and well. It may be a difficult job but it was worth it.
But that was before the collapse of everything.
Now were more uncertain times. His company had done a lot of damage and many people were still angry. All he had left of his staff now were the Turks. They had stayed by him. If he was the type to vocalise his grateful thanks, he would, but this was not in his character.
So it remained an unspoken thank you to those that had remained loyal to him.
He would rebuild, of that he was certain. He's build up an empire greater than before. Greater than his father ever could have imagined. But with one major difference.
Compassion.
Compassion for the world itself and its inhabitants. Not directly, Rufus thought, but his company would do the right thing this time - while still maintaining a position of power. He realised that this would be a tricky balancing act, but he was ready for that challenge.
Especially with the support of his Turks.
He knew they'd die for him. They'd most certainly kill for him.
Turning over a new leaf, though, should make their tasks less deadly. The people would come around once he'd proven that the Shinra company could do things for the good of the planet. It was only a matter of time and Rufus was still relatively young. He had the time.
He now only needed the patience.
But with the support of those key few, it could be done.
Shinra would be reborn - both the company and the man - and all would be right and in its place once again.
