To be fair: she'd warned me it might come to this. And it didn't feel bad, exactly – in fact, it didn't feel bad at all. Say what you want about Murphy (so long as you keep in mind that if it offends me, I will feel obliged to remind you of your manners) but she knew how to use a pair of handcuffs.
Still … “Er, I need to feed the cat?”
She smiled at me – and a part of me insisted on noticing it wasn't your average, 'nice to see you, too' smile. There were promises lurking in that smile – or maybe they were threats.
“Nice try, Harry.”
“Aren't you supposed to only use these on suspects?”
“Can't you think of something better to do with your mouth than talk?”
Since she mentioned it, I supposed I could, at that.
