Prompt: Gundam 00, Lockon(Neil)/Tieria: fumbling towards understanding - Is this, too, what it means to be human?
Summary: Tieria discovers another part of being human.
Tieria leaned against the wall, outside the door to the room that had been Lockon's. He'd stood there many times before, working up the courage to knock. One time, Lockon had come out and seen him standing there. Tieria had mumbled an excuse, but Lockon had laughed it off, genuine happiness curving his lips upward and making his eyes sparkle.
That was the first time they'd made love.
From Neil, Tieria learned joy. He learned love, jealousy, and fear. It seemed Neil's final lesson would be the heart-rending sadness of loss.
Tieria slid down the wall and sat with his head on his knees, an ache in his chest and a strange tightness in his throat. A tear escaped his eye, and he whispered, "Is this, too, what it means to be human?"
